2021 Lacey Wrestling

With a strong group of starters returning, a couple of additions via transfer, the return of a standout from injury, and a promising group of newcomers, the Lions look to have a very strong lineup from top to bottom in 2021.

The upperweights look to be a very strong group, led by senior Vin Ceglie. Ceglie has 80 career wins, is a 3-time District Finalist, winning a title in 2018, and was a State Qualifier in 2019. The 1-2 punch at 220-Hwt is a very good one with senior Gerard O'Connor, who won 22 matches last season, and junior Scott Stevens, who should be among the top heavies in the Shore this season. Also up top for the Lions are returning Matt Coon, who picked up 12 wins as a frosh last year, and James Circle, a junior transfer from Barnegat who notched 28 wins in 2020.

The Lions should be equally tough down low. This group gets a big lift with the return of junior Brady Carter, who missed most of last season due to injury. Carter was one of the top freshman in the Shore in 2019, winning 32 matches and qualifying for the State Tournament after 2nd place finishes in the Districts & Regions. Also back for the Lions are a pair of 20+ match winners in juniors Andre Ferraiuolo and Mason Heck, who was a D26 runner-up last season. Vinnie Fantasia has won 13 bouts in each of the previous two seasons and can provide senior leadership to this group that could also feature some promising freshmen in John Downs and Matt Gauthier.

The middleweights look like they will have solid bookends in senior Collin Rolak, a 2-time District Medalist who won 30 matches last season, and junior Kevin Fazio, another transfer from Barnegat who won 23 bouts last season.

The Lions have had some solid lineups over the years, but are still in search of their first Division Championship since winning B-South in 1999. They have another great lineup this year and figure once again to be in contention for that elusive divisional crown. The key date may, once again, be there matchup with Pt Boro, which is scheduled for March 24th at Boro.
